Emotional stability in wartime

Emotional stability in wartime
27.03.2023
"It won't be like it used to be" - such an opinion about the future is increasingly common among Ukrainians.
In response, psychologists want clarification: what will happen then? What from the past should be abandoned? What will disappear and what will remain?

Lack of “confidence in tomorrow”, stability, certainty, planning - it is what is observed in many people today. It is important, however, to acquire new skills, to self-improve and self-develop in the absence of stability and confidence, to form new interests and requests in life, to build new plans of actions that are capable of dynamics.

Creating something new usually starts with emotional stability. It is what makes it possible to "deceive" the mind and calm down.
Here are some points that will help you find emotional stability during a crisis:
- routine
Develop a new schedule for the day, suitable for blackouts, possible alarms, etc.; creating new daily rituals, for example, going to bed, waking up, eating, visiting friends, relatives, beauty salons, shops, etc.
- acceptance of feelings and emotions
Everything we feel right now is normal: rage, anger, irritation, confusion, disappointment, fear... Don't punish yourself for it.
- contacts and communication
If possible, keep old contacts and create new ones.
- calmness
That is, using all methods that calm you: meditation exercises, communication, searching for information or viewing it, etc.
- strength and confidence
Do not forget that hopelessness is traumatic for a person. Therefore, set tasks that you can complete, plan those actions that you can influence, in order to get out of the state of helplessness.
- hope and plans for the future
Preferably - real, detailed, for example "When everything is over, I will....".
